Dog-owners must obey the law

In New York, there are laws about dog ownership (and I'm sure this goes for other places in the United States as well), such as:

1. All dogs must be licensed by the Dept of Health and the tag must always be on the dog's collar.
2. All dogs must be rabies vaccinated.
3. Owners must scoop up their own dog's poopoo.
4. An owner must be able to keep his/her dog quiet.
5. An owner must not let their dog become a nuisance to his neighborhood.
6. Owners must be able to prevent attacks. Their dogs cannot attack people or other animals, although their are exceptions (like self-defense, protecting the home, etc.)

Violations, especially number 6, will be tried in court.

There are other rules too, like all dogs must be on a leash when being walked outside the home.

My human family violated law number 1. They never got me a license. Why? They're lazy bastards. But they did do all the other things.

Though laws can be tedious (hell yes, I'm a rebel), they're a good way to keep tabs on lost, injured, or dangerous animals. So I can't complain about that. It's all for the common good after all.

Nu Yorkers - Walk Your Dog For Cancer Research

That's right. This upcoming May 4th, you and your dog can walk and also raise money for cancer research. Wish I could join this, because I need to get in touch with New York nature once more. Gah, I miss NY weather.

But back to cancer research. This non-competitive dog walk-a-thon, held by the American Cancer Society, will happen in two places:

1. Bear Mountain State Park (Bear Mountain, NY)
2. Riverside Park (Riverside, NY)

I've never been to either of those places, but my human sis, Angie, tells me that Bear Mountain is BEAUTIFUL. So I urge you to participate - HAVE FUN and HELP OUT at the same time. What could be better?

Just follow this link for more info.

Or you can call this number: 1.800.ACS.2345

And here is a picture of Bear Mountain:

I also want to show you a video of me with a mouse in my mouth. My human mom and sis tried desperately to make me let go of it, but I was so proud of myself that I kept it in between my jaws for more than a half hour! YESSSSSSSSS... I may be small, but I am a resilient hunter!

Marley & Me Movie

Most of you have read the awesome and touching book, Marley & Me, by John Grogan. Because it is such a great story, it will be turned into a movie starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, and it's supposed to come out some time in 2008 (Christmas, to be exact).

I'm anxious to see promotional pictures for this film, and I hope the Hollywood whosits do the story right by making it as poignantly funny as the book. Because the project is still in production in Miami, I have no clue what it will look like. There's not even a trailer yet. We'll see how it goes in the coming months.

For more info on the progress of the movie, you can go to John Grogan's blog where he reveals tidbits and pictures about the film (sometimes straight from the set!). The picture below, for instance, is from the blog:

My First Post. Hoorah!

Hi all!

I created this website, because I like keeping tabs on news, events, and happenings surrounding dogs (and other animals too).

Plus, I'll write little tidbits about me and how cool I am.

Yesterday, Angie, my human sister, refused to give me some of the meatballs she was eating. How cruel is that? I've got such cute puppy eyes, and she still can resist my charms. Booger.
